ARDL can perform Specific Gravity tests to assist customers in identifying a material, track physical changes in the material, measure uniformity across a sampling of materials and given an indication to the average density of large items.
Density tests are performed by measuring the relative mass of the material and comparing that to an equal volume of water. It is one of the most widely used tests after production quantities are produced to assure proper ingredient levels and batch to batch consistency. The density of the material is compared to the theoretical density of the reconstructed formulation to assure that a proper analysis has been performed.
Specific gravity and density tests are important to ARDL’s customers because according to ASTM these tests can help to our customers understand “localized differences in crystallinity, loss of plasticizer, absorption of solvent and other causes.”
