Color Testing at ARDL includes color measurement analysis of a material’s surface before and after exposure to ultraviolet light. This analysis can help determine the degree of degradation or discoloration. ARDL also provides color matching, as well as haze and luminous transmittance testing. Color matching tests are a quality control method intended to check the color of end use products against federal standard color chips. Haze and luminous transmittance testing uses a spectrophotometer to “measure the specific light-transmitting and wide-angle-light-scattering properties of planar sections of materials, specifically transparent plastics” according to ASTM.
