Mixing, extrusion, molding and testing is the focus of this course. It is taught by three instructors who have extensive rubber plant experience. Different mixer types and rotors types will be reviewed. Extrusion, salt bath curing and other processing will be discussed, along with how to troubleshoot processing problems. Discussion will also include compression, injection, transfer and other types of molding. The testing section includes quality control and more details on most rubber tests. Analytical chemical testing of rubber compounds will be included. Compound development will be covered with a detailed explanation of ASTM D 2000 line call out compounding. Warehouse storage of elastomers and rubber chemicals is included along with useful reference sheets. This course is best suited to rubber plant technical personnel.
