March 18, 2015 – Akron Rubber Development Laboratory, Inc. recently installed a new Atlas Ci5000 Weather-Ometer, expanding its already extensive accelerated weathering capabilities.  This brings ARDL to a total of five on-site Xenon Arc Weather-Ometers, four QUVs and 2 Carbon Arcs.

The acquisition was in response to increasing demand from the marketplace.  Asked about the purchase, ARDL’s Manager of Physical and Plastics Testing, Jim Drummond responded, “One of ARDL’s competitive advantages has always been machine and chamber availability, allowing fast turn-around time for customers.  We have over 50 ovens, multiple temperature/humidity cycle chambers, ozone chambers and salt-spray units.  I was at the point where I was scheduling Xenon Arc testing out three and four months, so I knew we had to add capacity.  The Ci5000 provides the additional exposure space we needed and it allows us to run the latest high intensity specifications for automotive suppliers.”
